We left Mulhouse and set off towards the Swiss border in Basel. We'd been in contact with my mum who was on a coach trip to Italy, staying in Switzerland just south of Luzern on Saturday night, so we decided to make a slight detour and meet her. We wanted to stay off the Swiss motorways, as you’re supposed to pay a 14 month road tax to use them and it's the same price as a car. However this proved more difficult than we expected so we gave up trying and sailed on to Luzern keeping our fingers crossed. After a bite of lunch in a street called Kas we continued slowly around the lake to the south east corner, admiring the gorgeous view of sun on the water and snow capped mountains behind. We found mum’s hotel, and a 10 min walk further up the mountain, a delightful B&B complete with cable car, water mill and goats with bells! Mum’s coach arrived at 7.30pm so we joined her for dinner and waved her off the next morning in the rain!
